Read the sermon text: 1 Peter 4:7-11

Read the sermon summary: In our passage this Sunday, we will consider how our love for God's glory directly informs and impacts our love for one another, God's people. Each of the three "one-another" commands we will study (love one another, be hospitable to one another, serve one another) should ultimately be motivated by the love which God has displayed toward us in Christ and be empowered by God's love which "has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us" (Romans 5:5). We will also consider the importance of the statement, "The end of all things is at hand," in verse 7, and how our hope in the return of Christ gives shape to the way in which live as the resurrected Body of Christ. In preparation for the sermon, think through the following questions: What does it mean that "love covers a multitude of sins" (4:8)? How does understanding our talents and abilities as gifts of "God's varied grace" (4:10) affect the way we serve one another? What is the correlation between our love for God's glory and our love for one another?
