Read the sermon text: Colossians 3:12-17

Read the sermon summary: We typically preach through books of the Bible, section by section. For the next few weeks before our next series we will have one-off sermons from various passages. For this Sunday we will consider Paul's instructions to the Colossians about "putting on" the new self. In verses 12-17, Paul exhorts the believers concerning their responsibilities to one another. They should "put on" certain virtues in keeping with the gospel, the most important one being love. Contrary to being enslaved to "earthly" vices, Christ's peace should rule in the hearts and Christ's word should dwell in them richly. These exhortations are at the core of our desire as a church to "Love God's People." As we strive to put these things into practice, we can be certain that Christ will be working in us for his glory and our good.

Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:

Ancient Of Days

Verse 1

Though the nations rage

Kingdoms rise and fall

There is still one King

Reigning over all

So I will not fear

For this truth remains

That my God is the Ancient of Days

Chorus

None above Him none before Him

All of time in His hands

For His throne it shall remain and ever stand

All the power all the glory

I will trust in His name

For my God is the Ancient of days

Verse 2

Though the dread of night

Overwhelms my soul

He is here with me

I am not alone

O His love is sure

And He knows my name

For my God is the Ancient of Days

Verse 3

Though I may not see

What the future brings

I will watch and wait

For the Saviour king

Then my joy complete

Standing face to face

In the presence of the Ancient of Days

For my God is the Ancient of Days
