Worship Preparation - December 7, 2025
Read the sermon text: Isaiah 9:1-7; Luke 2:8-14
Read the sermon summary: Last week, we saw why the news of Jesus' birth is good news of great joy for all the peoples. God has come down to repair the breach between himself and his people. This Sunday we will consider the related theme of peace. We will see that the expression of praise by the angels in Luke 2:14 finds its roots in the promises of God throughout the Old Testament, especially in Isaiah. What does it mean that God's people have peace? What do we make of the phrase "peace among those with whom he is well pleased"? How are you sure that this peace applies to you?
Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:
Prince Of Heaven
Verse 1
Earth in shadow restlessly hold
Labours waiting in silent hope
For the promise it longs to know
What heaven holds
Verse 2
Then the angels in holy haste
Lift their anthem Your Saviour lays
In a manger in humble form
Your King is born
Chorus
Hail the Prince of Heaven comes
Angel choirs sound the call
For this babe wrapped in a cloth
Is the incarnate Word of God
All the kingdom and its power
Resting now in this child
Prince of Heaven
Jesus hope of the world
Verse 3
This means mercy in fullest form
Loving kindness forever more
Son of David and Son of God
He is Christ the Lord
Bridge
King of glory we gladly greet
Born in wonder and majesty
Forever worthy the earth will sing
Oh Prince of Heaven we worship Thee
Verse 4
We can know Him this Prince of Peace
In light of mercy confess our sin
Lay our burdens at Jesus' feet
And with gladness sing
