Worship Preparation - January 19, 2025
Read the sermon text: John 1:43-51
Read the sermon summary: Having just concluded a series on our mission as a church and preparing to begin a series on our shared identity as the people of God, we will connect the two this week by considering how Christ himself clarifies our calling and confirms the hope of our inheritance. We will look together at Jesus’s earliest interactions with his disciples and think through implications for our own pursuit of discipleship. As you reflect on the text this week, what can we learn of the character of Christ and the call to follow him in such short exchanges? What do we learn of our responsibility to love others by bearing witness to Christ? And finally, what does Christ reveal to us in his final statement about the hope of our salvation?
