Read the sermon text: Luke 12:1-12
Read the sermon summary: After describing the "leaven of the Pharisees" through a series of woes, Jesus turns his attention to his disciples. At first glance, we might think that the three sections in verses 1-12 are disconnected teachings. But if we look closer we see some common threads. In following Jesus, the disciples will encounter many threats not only to their faith, but also to their very lives. What might seem like more warnings from Jesus actually may be exhortations to fearlessness and boldness, accompanied with comforting promises. Everything will one day be revealed, God greatly values you, the Son of Man will acknowledge you before the angels, and the Holy Spirit will be with you. Therefore, live with integrity and speak without fear the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
