Read the sermon text:1 Peter 3:8-12
Read the sermon summary: For the last few weeks, we have considered how our honorable conduct before unbelievers provides a witness to the kingdom of God. Our passage for this Sunday is both a conclusion to this section, as well as a transition. Peter broadens his scope to include all believers and summarizes what should be our disposition towards one another in the church, towards those outside of the church, and in relation to the Lord himself. We are called to seek peace within the body and bless those who persecute us. Peter makes the point that this pursuit of peace is what we’ve been called to and cites Psalm 34 to show the foundation of this kind of peace-pursuing disposition is the confident hope that God will faithfully care for his people and give them eternal life.
Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:
Great Are You Lord

You give life You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken
And great are You Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

And all the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
Great are You Lord
